Every Te Araroa walker funds a native tree

by | Mar 6, 2024

This year we partnered with Trees that Count, enabling every Te Araroa walker and supporter to fund the planting of a native tree as part of their registration.

We are delighted to share that all these trees will be planted on Bluff Hill, Motupōhue by the amazing Bluff Hill/Motupōhue Environment Trust (BHMET).

BHMET is dedicated to the restoration and protection of the natural environment on and around Bluff Hill. David Swann BHMET Trustee & Project Leader says:“As we continue our work, seeing Te Araroa walkers either finishing their journey or setting out is truly uplifting. We feel a responsibility to ensure they experience Motupōhue at its best. We’ve had some wonderful conversations with people from all over the world. It’s fantastic to receive support from the Te Araroa team through our partnership with Trees That Count.”

The next planting day will be Wed 13 March 1pm-4pm. If you are interested in getting involved in future tree planting days, please email Leah for more info: Leah@motupohue.nz
