Te Araroa update 15: Auckland moves to Level 3, rest of NZ to Level 2

This announcement follows four confirmed COVID-19 cases in an Auckland household that – at this point – has no known link to overseas travel.

It’s important that people considering walking the Te Araroa trail do their part to prevent any potential spread of the virus.

If you are in the Auckland region, please follow the Government’s Alert Level 3 advice. Low-risk walks in your local area are ok, but you should avoid any overnight tramps and you should wear a mask and practise physical distancing of 2 metres at all times.

If you are located around the rest of New Zealand, please abide by the Level 2 rules. Maintain physical distancing of two metres while walking or staying on the trail and practice good hygiene and make sure to wash your hands regularly (it’s a good idea to carry hand sanitiser with you).

Anybody planning to walk the the trail – or a section of it – should register on our website to facilitate easier contact tracing if a case of COVID-19 is detected among trail users at any point in future.

Take care out there

Executive Officer – Te Araroa
