New Off Road Section Opens at Waitomo
In line with Te Araroa Trust aim to reduce road walking on the trail we are delighted to announce a new off-road walking section near Waitomo (King Country). The new off-road section was officially opened on Friday 16 October following a very special Karakia. The new section takes walkers along a short section of the Waipa Faultline, which features uplifted limestone and a very unique Karst landscape which is a characteristic of the local area. Massive thank you to Pete and Libby Chandler for leading the project along with support from John Ash, Keith Buswell, Ben Stubbs, Bex Stubbs, Huia Davis, Coleen Hawkes and members of the Hamilton Tomo Group – Brian Bowell, John Davies, Dee Nagle and Dave Miekle and a special thanks to Jason Chandler, Kieran Chandler and Tyler (US Walker last season) for help with trail development!
