Entrance to Clevedon

  • 18 Nov 2008

Auckland and Manukau Tramping Club members test the new track.

Kimptons Track - it's just 2.5 km long, but an important part of Te Araroa's exit from Manukau City into the Hunua Ranges. We declared it open as from Saturday November 15. There's no destination signage at either end of the track, but it's signed through with orange markers, and there's now stiles over all the fences. Thanks to the construction team, Noel Sandford, John Smith, Ron King and Judy, "Sparky" and Geoff Chapple - also Manukau Tramping Club volunteers who turned up one day last week. Thanks also to Joe Macky, Chris Morton, John Smith again and John Norris for scoping,  and to Kim Ollivier for GPS work.

The new track begins at Kimptons Road, Brookby and links through to an existing lookout point, and track within the Clevedon Scenic Reserve.
